Fun with TAGs #8 Award Ceremony

Und schon geht es weiter mit Teil #8 meiner kleinen Fun with TAGs Reihe, heute mit der Award Ceremony, also einer Preisverleihung. Ich habe mal wieder eine Technik ausprobiert, die Meister Holtz in seinen YouTube Videos gezeigt hat. Das hat eine tolle Wirkung, wie ich finde, schau doch mal…
Today I am continuing part #8 of my little Fun with Tags series, today with an award ceremony. Again I tried a technique that Master Holtz showed in one of his YouTube videos. I think, it is a striking result, let’s have a closer look….

Die Preisverleihung / The award ceremony

Das Gestalten von solchen TAGs macht einfach Spaß, da man nicht gleich eine ganze Karte, ein großes Layout oder eine ganze Seite im Art Journal gestalten muß. Die TAGs dienen als kleine “Leinwand” zum Ausprobieren von Techniken aller Art.
Creating such tags is pure fun, because you won’t have to make a complete card, a big layout or a complete art journal page. Those tags serve aa a small “canvas” for playing around with techniques of any kind.

Tim Holtz hatte kürzlich in seinem Q+A Demo alle möglichen Varianten der Nutzung der Distress Paints gezeigt. Kann ich nur empfehlen, das ist immer recht kurzweilig und man lernt eigentlich jedes Mal dazu. Ich habe hier also mal das mit dem Ausmalen gestempelter Motive mit den Distress Paints ausprobiert.
Tim Holtz recently showed in his Q+A demo several applications of using Distress paints. I just can recommend them, it is always entertaining and you can learn a lot. So, I tried out to color stamped motifs with Distress paint.

Die Basis / The foundation

Basis war wieder eines der TAGs, die neulich beim Herumspielen mit den Distress Ink + Oxide Sprays und Stempelkissen heraus kamen. Aus dem rechten TAG habe ich das Fun with TAGs #7 Judgement gemacht. Für das Fun with TAGs #8 Award Ceremony habe ich das TAG ganz links als Basis verwendet.
I used one of the tags as foundation that I made recently while playing around with the Distress Ink + Oxide sprays and stamp pads. The tag on the right resulted in my Fun with TAGs #7 Judgement. For today’s Fun with TAGs #8 Award Ceremony I took the tag on the left as foundation.

Dafür habe ich die Abdrücke diverser brauner Stempelkissen auf der Non Stick Matte der Glass Media Mat platziert, mit Wasser besprüht und dann das trockene TAG hinein gedippt. Das Ganze in mehreren Schichten immer wieder mit trocken föhnen zwischendurch. So entstehen die vielen Schichten und Tropfen.
This was done by placing some imprints of several brown stamp pads on the non stick mat of the glass media mat, sprayed this with water and dipped the dry tag into it. I did this in several layers with drying each layer. The results are all those layers and spots.

Das Label / The label

Für den oberen Teil habe ich ein Label auf ein mit Distress und Oxide Sprays gestaltetes Stückchen Rest-Papier gestempelt und anschließend ausgeschnitten.
For decorating the upper part I stamped the label onto a piece of paper that was sprayed with Distress Inks and Oxides and fussy-cut it.

Die Mini-Federchen habe ich aus einem Stückchen Aquarellpapier ausgestanzt, das ich vorher mit Distress Inks und Wassertankpinsel ein wenig eingefärbt habe. Die feinen Striche habe ich mit einem Sakura Pigma Brush hinein gezeichnet.
The mini feathers were die-cut with a piece of watercolor paper, that I painted with some Distress Inks and a waterbrush. I added some fine lines with a Sakura Pigma Brush.

Der Zylinder ist ebenfalls mit Archival Ink auf ein mit Distress Ink eingefärbtes Stück Papier gestempelt und anschließend ausgeschnitten.
The top hat is stamped with Archival Ink on a paper that was colored with Distress ink and then fussy-cut.

Damit er ein bißchen plastischer wirkte, habe ich ihn etwas gerundet und mit Abstandspads aufgeklebt.
To achieve a more realistic look, I rounded him a bit and glued him with some foam pads.

Intensive Farben / Intense colors

Um den Hintergrund vor dem weiteren Bearbeiten zu fixieren, habe ich das TAG mit Distress Glaze überzogen. Zum Einen verhindert das das erneute Anlösen der Farben bei der weiteren Verarbeitung.
To seal the waterreactive background before continuing I put some Distress Glaze on top of the tag. On the one hand prevents this the colors when adding other colors.

Zum Anderen gibt es dem Ganzen auch ein ganz dezent mattes Finish und vor Allem nochmal irgendwie mehr Tiefe und Intensität. Das gefiel mir bei den Flecken supergut.
On the other hand it achieves a restrained matt finish and above all somehow it adds more depth and intensity. I liked that very much on the blotches.

Die Schleife / The bow

Ich hatte nach einem Motiv gesucht, das sich gut ausmalen ließ, um diese Technik auszuprobieren. Dabei fiel mir diese Schleife aus einem alten Stampers Anonymous Set von Tim Holtz in die Hände. Das war dann letztlich auch der Auslöser und die Idee für das Fun with TAGs #8 Award Ceremony.
I was looking for a motif that could be colored easily to try out this technique. So I came over this bow from an older Stampers Anonymous set by Tim Holtz. That was the spark for this idea for the Fun with TAGs #8 Award Ceremony.

Die Technik ist eigentlich ganz einfach: Abstempeln des Motivs mit Hilfe einer Stempelhilfe mit Archival Ink. Alles genau so in der Stempelhilfe liegen lassen und mit den deckenden Distress Paints “ausmalen”. Dabei ist es egal, ob man auch über die Linien drüber malt (was natürlich bei der Schraffur in meinem Beispiel zwangsläufig passierte). Und dann, nach dem Trocknen einfach nochmal mit der Archival Ink drüber stempeln. Top! Das Ergebnis gefällt mir ausnehmend gut! 🙂
This technique is simple: Stamp the motif with any stamping tool and archival ink. Leave it exactly in this position in your stamping tool and color it with Distress paints. It doesn’t matter if you paint over any line (which of course I couldn’t prevent in my sample). And then, when it’s dry simply stamp it again on the top with Archival Ink. Top! I love the result!! 🙂

Übrigens, das Fleckige im gelben Mittelteil ist nicht durch schlechtes Colorieren entstanden, sondern weil die darunter liegenden Flecken noch immer ein wenig durchscheinen.
By the way, the stains in the yellow center are not generated by bad painting, but the blotches underneath show through a little bit.

Wirkungsvoll / Striking

Ich mag dieses leuchtende Ergebnis sehr und ich finde, es ist eine tolle Ergänzung zu den anderen Distress Hintergrundtechniken.
I really like this bright result and I think, it is an amazing addition to the other Distress background techniques.
